"My work is largely about the frustration and alienation in contemporary life. The protagonists are exclusively male, perhaps office drones, lower middle class men often thrust into extreme situations that are seemingly hopeless. Equally the environments are as stark as the predicaments my characters find themselves in. I often use cinema as my starting point, particularly Film Noir and the work of Akira Kurosawa mixed with a sense of political and social satire".
